In a bid to reverse the current trend of dwindling membership within Northern Ireland Golf Clubs, Ballyclare Golf Club appointed MARTIN to develop the design and ultimately build a brand new facility comprising an eight bay floodlit Driving Range, teaching bay and modern Professional Shop.
The project had stalled in recent years, with lack of funding meaning a redesign was necessary if the project was to be realised. Following several meetings with the Driving Range Proponents, Mr William Millar and Ballyclare Golf Club Professional Colin Lyttle, a brief was tabled and MARTIN became involved in the project.
MARTIN founder, Wissie Martin was a long-time member of the club and introduced current Managing Director Michael Scullion, and his grandchildren into club membership, meaning that this project had both a professional and personal interest.
The scheme comprised Drainage alterations, reinforced concrete slab, steel frame, cladding, blockwork, K-rend and internal finishes, along with hi-level sports netting to catch any stray balls.
The finished building was officially launched at the annual Pro-Am on Friday 14th September, where the new facility was enjoyed by members, visitors and professionals. As the light starts to fade with the change in season, we anticipate that the initial positive numbers continues throughout the winter months.
Congratulations to all of the MARTIN team who were involved in the successful delivery of this project.
