With the new Lookers Audi showroom in Guildford now operational for the last few months the dealership have had a chance to settle into their new environment. This newly refurbished and extended facility allowed the dealership to utilise the existing space they had by increasing the showroom display area, for both new and used cars and also increase capacity within the workshop service department. They now have a 17 bay workshop with 1 MOT and brake tester bay, 3 new car wash & 2 car dry valet bays along with enough space to display 12 cars inside the showroom. To accompany this there is also 2 new spacious handover bays for each client to enjoy along with a state of the art CPL (Customer Private Lounge) where the customer can experience virtual reality whilst the car of their dreams is configurated in front of them. This Audi specific room allows the customer to visualise every aspect of their car prior to purchasing, right down to the fine details.
With the launch of the Audi Etron later this year another aspect within the build, which MARTIN assisted with was upgrading the EV charging capacity within site. To do this Lookers had to install 3nr external EV chargers around the site; 1 within customer car parking, 1 in the used car display and another within the service bays to the rear of the site. They also installed 6nr internal charging pods within the workshop to future proof the building with the shift to electric cars over the coming years. A new Audi approved rainscreen cladding system was installed to the front and sides of the building to give the showroom a new sharp look, which propels the dealership in line with the prestige Audi brand. The works were extensive and included – drainage works for wash bay extension, major M&E works, feature staircase, glass balustrade, passenger lift, plasterboard partitions, metal suspended ceilings, workshop car ramps, ceramic tiling, internal glazed screens and roller shutters with all of the above requiring design coordination to ensure the vision of the brand and architect was achieved.
Whilst this site was extremely challenging, as the existing dealership were decanted into a temporary showroom onsite for the duration of the work and the workshop was continuing to operate we have achieved a finished product which allows the Lookers and Audi brands to grow within the area.
Finally with this being the seventh project MARTIN has worked on with Lookers we hope to continue to do more in the future and develop the business relationship further.
