MARTIN were appointed as main contractor to improve the pedestrian walkways around the Kilroot Power Station complex.

Works commenced with very detailed risk assessments and method statements to outline how we were going to maintain access to the various buildings.

The existing precast concrete flags were lifted, stacked and stored on site for client maintenance on other areas. The subbase was then prepared for kerbing and new flexible surface layers were added to ensure safe walkways throughout.

Both functionality and aesthetics were then improved by the addition of a bright green textured zebragrip, completed with zebra crossings and pedestrian logos to clearly define the route.

As works progressed, we received many compliments from both management and operatives as this initiative has greatly improved the safety of staff traversing the site.
